Dictator CMS

Modify or Add Design Templates

Dictator uses one or more HTML templates to flow your content into. These templates—usually in combination with one or more CSS files—comprise your site’s design and layout.

This feature will only be covered briefly as we do not recommend modifying your site’s templates unless you are a web developer.

Click the site templates link in Dictator’s config screen. You will be taken to a screen showing one or more HTML templates currently being used on your site. Next to teach template is a number indicating how many pages the template is used on.

From here you may make edits to existing templates, or add new templates. If you place a file in the /dictator/templates/ folder on your web server, Dictator will automatically detect it and add it to the list. Though you must visit the site templates link before Dictator will see it.

Once a template has been added, you may set any page to use it through the Page Edit: Settings tab.

Templates typically contain numerous special tags to communicate with Dictator’s Presenter module. The details of these tags are not convered in this manual, but may be provided upon request. As a result, we recommend that you contact Ryan Cramer Design, LLC before implementing your own templates.
