Editing Pages
Editing a page is simply a matter of typing in text and clicking save changes. While the basics are as simple as that, Dictator gives you many more capabilities with regards to text formatting, photos, file attachments, and more. All of these capabilities are described in this section.
Each page contains several links at the top. In the manual, we refer to these as tabs. Unlike a regular web page, you can safely click back and forth between these tabs before you save changes. These tabs include the following:
Content
Contains all text content for your page. This is the tab you will use most often and it is what you see by default when you click to edit a page.Photos
Contains all photos/images attached to the page you are editing. Allows you to upload new photos, sort existing photos, give them tags and captions, and more.Attach
Contains file attachments for this page, such as PDFs, Word documents, videos, and such. You may add more attachments, give them tags and labels, change the order, and more.Channels
Allows you to attach the page you are editing to one or more channels. Channels serve as another means of grouping pages, and may or may not be used on your site.Users
Allows you to assign one or more editors to have access to edit this page. Typically only used on large scale Dictator implementations where there are multiple people editing content.Settings
Contains all settings specific to this page. These settings give you the means to change the way this page displays in your site. This tab also gives you the capability to move the page to somewhere else in the site.Delete
Click this tab to delete the page. You will be asked to confirm your intention by clicking a checkbox. You may not delete a page if it contains active subpages.Spell
This spellcheck feature opens a new window with words highlighted that Dictator does not recognize. This feature only shows you unrecognized words, it does not attempt to correct them (that is up to you).View
View this page as it currently appears on your site. If you’ve made any changes, be sure to click save changes before viewing the page.
