Resizing Photos
This feature is recommended only for advanced users. Dictator will let you resize photos that you have already uploaded. To do this, follow the instructions below:
Click the “select” link for one or more photos that you would like to resize.
Below your list of photos is a pulldown menu labeled “Selected Photo Actions”. Click this and choose “Resize Selected Photos.”
Click the “Resize Options” link to open it. Ensure that the “Resize to” checkbox is checked.
In the two entry fields directly to the right of the above checkbox, type in the new dimensions that you would like to resize the photos to (width x height, in pixels).
Dictator will not stretch your photo to achieve the desired dimensions, so it may need to crop in either the horizontal or vertical dimension. By default, it will crop to the center of the photo. If you would like to ensure that a certain part of the photo is not cropped out, then you will want to modify the cropping grid. This cropping grid is patterned after the one that appears in the Adobe Photoshop Canvas Size dialog box. Essentially, look at the grid as if it were your photo and click on the point closest to the area you would like to retain. For instance, if I was resizing a large portrait photo with a person in it, then I’d want to click the top-most radio button in the grid to ensure that the person’s head does not get cropped out. In most cases, you will not need to use this cropping grid, but it is there if you need it.
Click save changes and your photos will be resized and cropped as needed to achieve the desired dimensions. Click the “view” button for any of the photos to review the changes.
